The
Exhibit Building has been designed to honor and explore the
epic of the H.L. Hunley, the first submarine to sink an enemy
warship.
Follow
the Hunley's creation in an Alabama machine shop, its sea
trials, combat, disappearance at sea in 1864, & the fabulous
recovery off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina in 2000.
The exhibit tells the story of the submarine, the men who
manned her and the Civil War times in which her exploits have
been memorialized.
Film, special effects, signage and graphics, murals, props,
specially crafted exhibit cases, audio/video presentations,
computer simulations & interactive attractions contribute
to the unfolding story. A museum retail store provides unique
submarine & tall ship replicas, books, custom soundtrack CD's,
Civil War memorabilia, DVD's & much more.
