In this
dramatic exhibit, period photos and historical artifacts—most
obtained form the archives and warehouses of the Russian Army
Museum—are used to bring to life the brutal reality
and poignancy of war on the Eastern Front during WWII.
The valiant
defense of Stalingrad is recreated, with the scenes and implements
of war encircling the visitor. The story continues with tales
of personal sacrifice and recreated dwellings of the war-weary,
and then culminates in the victorious finale: the crushing
of Nazis forces told though authentic photos, weapons and
uniforms in a replicated scene from Hitler's bunker.
This highly
acclaimed exhibit opened in Washington D.C. and then toured
America. |
